The game of paintball attracts some interesting characters and the same can be said for the folks who work in paintball – at least at our paintball fields in NYC and NJ. Which is why we were not surprised the other day when someone asked what Santa’s elves do when Christmas is over.
about the According to some guy named Merlin on a thread found on Answer Mug, “They fly to Florida where they let the reindeer out to take a well-deserved vacation.” Not so sure that reindeer would enjoy hanging out in the heat and humidity of a Florida summer, but let’s see where Merlin goes with this.
Once the reindeer are taken care of, he says that the elves hop a boat to The Bahamas. “There they dance the Bahamiam Quadrille to Rake-n-scrape music and Junkanoo celebrations. They drink Mai-Tais and Pina Coladas and kick their little feet up. They shave their breads and loose [sic] the suspenders and little work dresses, making way for mini grass skirts and surf shorts. They snorkel and sail. Sometimes they jet ski and bask in the sun.”
At the end of the summer, Merlin says the elves get back to business. “When August rolls around, they start fattening up again and growing their beards, knitting sweaters and turtle necks [sic],” he tells us. “They pull their wool socks out and their caps and they start preparing for Christmas, waking Santa up from his long summer nap.”
We give Merlin credit for creativity and originality, but we have it on very good authority that the elves prefer to enjoy their downtime in more northern climes. And one of their favorite things to do when they’re off the clock is – you guessed it – play paintball!
From everyone at the Cousins Paintball fields in NYC, NJ and Texas, warm wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season!
